Colombo, October 10, 2025 \u2014 Each year, World Mental Health Day serves as a global reminder that mental health is not a luxury \u2014 it is a human right and a foundation for a healthy, productive, and compassionate society. This year\u2019s theme, \u201cMental Health is a Universal Human Right,\u201d calls on individuals, communities, and governments to ensure that mental wellbeing is protected and promoted across all ages and backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite growing awareness, mental health continues to be one of the most neglected areas in public health. In Sri Lanka, recent studies highlight that more than one in five adults experience symptoms of depression or anxiety at some point in their lives, while many continue to suffer in silence due to stigma, lack of access to care, or social pressure to appear \u201cstrong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
