World Poultry Association Holds Annual Technical Sessions and Industrial Evening in Colombo

Colombo: The World Poultry Association (WPSA) – Sri Lanka Branch is hosting its Annual Technical Sessions and Industrial Evening 17th October at the Ramada Hotel, Colombo, bringing together leading poultry scientists, veterinarians, researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers.

The event opens with a warm welcome from the organizers, followed by the traditional oil lamp lighting ceremony. The Chief Guest, Dr. Michèle Tixier-Boichard, President of the World Poultry Science Association, delivers a keynote address emphasizing sustainable poultry practices to address global challenges such as climate change, feed security, and disease management. She highlights the poultry sector’s vital contribution to food security, livelihoods, and national economic growth.

A special felicitation recognizes individuals and organizations for their contributions to the industry. The evening continues with networking sessions, encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and new partnerships.

During the conclusion of the evening program, the outgoing President of the World Poultry Science Association – Sri Lanka Branch (WPSA-SL), Dr. Susantha Mallawa Arachchi, formally handed over the presidency to the newly appointed incumbent President, Dr. Kaundika Wanigasundara. The transition marked the beginning of Dr. Wanigasundara’s tenure as President for the next two years, continuing the association’s mission of advancing poultry science and industry collaboration in Sri Lanka.

The program reaffirmed WPSA’s ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and professional growth within Sri Lanka’s poultry sector.
