Colombo, 29 September 2025 – Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasised that education must play a central role in Sri Lanka’s digitalisation journey, highlighting the importance of equipping citizens with the knowledge and skills to adopt and effectively use emerging technologies.
Addressing the National AI Expo 2025, the country’s first-ever artificial intelligence conference and exhibition, held on 29 September at the Monarch Imperial Hotel, Battaramulla, the Prime Minister reiterated the Government’s commitment to ensuring that technological transformation benefits all citizens.
“The future of our nation’s digital transformation depends on equipping our people with the knowledge and skills to embrace new technologies. Our goal is to make these opportunities accessible to everyone, so that technology becomes a tool for inclusive growth,” Dr. Amarasuriya stated.
She further noted that digitalisation is not merely about adopting advanced systems, but also about empowering communities, bridging divides, and ensuring inclusivity as Sri Lanka transitions towards a smarter and more connected future.
The National AI Expo 2025 brought together policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss opportunities and challenges in harnessing artificial intelligence for national development. The event marked a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to build a robust digital economy and foster innovation across sectors.
